To Chapel. 3 in dingle. Lvs 1½ mm wide, flat, flat.
roze. Culms stiff but only 1mm diam (Bon
says 2mm) bearing 8-10 almost sessile
stiff spikelets all the sides of rachis being
somewhat curved to accommodate them) but
all turned somewhat to face one way.
Spikelets narrowly ovate, 7mm long. 7-8 fls.
Glumes much slinter than spikelet, not
equal, both 3-nerved, the lower narrow, both
pointed & whetern edges, the lower strongly
keeled, the upper less so. Lemmas almost
4 mm long, rounded below, keeled & pointed
above at top, stiff & rather hard, 3 nerved,
white on edges, light green on back, the
lateral nerves & upper part (mid-nerve
dark green; mid nerve obscure below middle.
Palea reaches almost to tip of lemma, white
keeled with dark green nerve near each
edge, the keels ciliate. Grain oblong with
appendage at top. Stamens port 3. (See 1-5-31
