this in the Aris sandstone the basal member of the thrifty formation and conglomerate (have 2 small pieces) that is older rock material. It lies uncom- formably on the dayland, and cuts into the latter very irregularly. The pebbles of the conglomerate have not come far. The sand- ostone is much cross-bedded, and the whole is an irregularly bedded formation that cuts into the dayland shale. At the dawn the section is as follows Aris sandstone-conglomerate 15 to 20 ft. unconformity (lens?) dayland shale (from in from 3 ft) 10 n Lensight limestone. Day impulse 1 n " Shale (blue-blue- blue) 60 n " Sandstone in creek 10 n At 3 P.M. called in Mr. Cheney to see his fossils. Had me Smithwick examine but came as he thought of the dayland. The surprise, known, was a slab with five five crinoid heads. Hope I may get it, but he wants to give it to his alma mater Cornell. It has 2 species. The design of Berger limestone. I am to see the
