The cleavage at the slate outcrop east of the town is N. 60 E. dip 34° N. A little further east the dip in 32° N. strikes N. 70 E. Still farther east strike N 35 E, dip 36 N. East of the saw mill the strike is N. 30 E, dip 58° N. The slates have polished surfaces and often the joints crumpling due to pressure. As yet one have seen no fossils in the strata of the Humber Arms. August 25-1910. Saw the limestone conglomerate in the hill east To the south west of Buckley Cross about 3 miles.
