August 8. Parsons Pond Section
588
(57) 89 Continuation of above bed with li. predominating
(58) 5 Layer of li. engl. There is seen a small n-s. fault, dip setting thread about w just horizontally.
(59) 83 Olive colored li. stretching from, in layers up to 8 mts thick. Some of these show rhythm banding like water-line. Then some interbedded shale. Dip 80 S. 70-E.
(60) 89 Greenish gray dark shale with some thin layers of shaly li.
(61) 59 Unexplored interval
(62) 59 Dark greenish gray to flaccid shale with some thin bands of li. and with lenses of li. engl.
973 These beds become much marked and distinct toward the end when the exposure ends, being interrupted by a small crev. The interval here is about 1000 feet across the strike to where the section begins again.
If the dip be on the average 70° this unexplored interval would include
(63) 562 fully strata. The first print at the most edge of that crev is formed by
(64) 50 Olive green sandstone and sandy shale. The sandstone is soft and crumbles easily.
(6H) 389 Unexplored interval
530 Olive green ss, and sandy shale like that above.
Dip 60 S. 85 E.
