August 8, Parsons Pond Section. (48) 57 Thin bedded li. in which there are 3 heavy layers of li. conglomerate. One at the top 8 feet thick, one near middle (divided by layer of thin bedded li.) 6 feet thick, and one at the base 3 feet thick. Dip 50 due east. (49) 74 Thin bedded impure li. interbedded with greenish to blackish shale, the shale predominating. (50) 160 Unexposed interval (51) 20 Light gray dense calcined li., brecciated brown, in layers 8 to 560 12 inches thick. Dip 42 S. 80 E. This is all the map. Crossing the slender arms of this core in front of the central to the western shore of Boomer Oil Plant of the Oil Co., we are on the strikes of no. 48 and no. 49. On no. 49 are six graphite led no. 4. These beds strike parallel to the crest for a distance of half a mile, and then are continued downward in the section but just there is an unexposed interval of 3240 feet which includes beds 49-51, leaving a balance of beds not seen equal to (52) 200 Unexposed interval. (53) 27 Thin bedded dense calcined li., interbedded with dark shales (54) 135 Beginning with shale alternating with 2 inch bands of impure sandy li. and grading upward into dark sandy shale. (55) 59 Unexposed interval (56) 167 Greenish dark shale with gums of interbedded thin bands of dense calcined li. Beds marked and distorted.
