The wheels should have a V cut into them in which the band saw lies. Tension is given in the regular way by a screw wheel under th upper wheel. On the table are fastened two runners in which slides the table. Ohm's machine cuts about 18 inches. Machining costs about $20. Saw takes out 1/32. Due to uneven cut gradually results in 1/8 inch cut. Saws made of annealed iron wire 1/16. The two ends are filed down to a long regular even plane These two ends are cleaned and coated somewhat with borax. Then are tied together by winding fine iron wire. Pinched still tighter with pincers. Then fully coated in with borax. Then a thin sheet of silver is taken about 1/2 inches wide and a strip cut off 1/4 inch wide. This is again wound on. How all is melted over a blow pipe. While still hot it is held under a spout of water to anneal the wire. Then filed in - nice along four sides, then rounded on a table with the file.
