actur. Suppose the phenomena is a form of our break here between the Clinton and Rochester. The 10 feet of Rochester here must re- present either one of the top foot of Rochester at Niagara Falls or only some portion of the lower Rochester. In all probability my the Ile Medina in nearly its full force is to be seen beneath the large road metal quarry at the head of John street between the two stone curbstone and back of the current Reservoir building. At the top it about 4 feet of thin bedded delicate limestone interbedded with shale. Then an irregular and localized zone of from 4 to 6 feet of "pillow structure" heavy bedded sandstone. The thickness of the sea bottom was extensive, the cliffs here are the way up to 2 feet deep into which the waning ocean was deposited. The first 6 feet of thin bedded sandstone alternating with shale. The basal layer is about 12 inches thick and has Lingula
