In 1916 on the east side of near an abandoned joint mine we
saw many Traptosmeta, Feretlides, Amites (left there) Stephendata new
arata Dolmanella and Rhizidomella. The horizon appears to be
New Darts and shales. Also Steptelasma strotellum.
Ordinary on the Heldenbergian is reduced to a
residual clay mostly for yellowish clay though there
is a or long line with many Dartland brines,
in some red and iron marms. On the other side of mine there
In the glau sand quarry just before
coming to Brymans ville, they got in a
well digging the Marcellus Black shale. This
found that the Ordovay is overturned upon the
Marcellus.
The Hamilton is of the regularity charac-
ter but decidedly cleared, and is I considerate
thickness. Then comes in some sandy green
shales and sandstones
and sandstone
shales and finally brick and shales of the upper
Dermian. These and beds are referred to
the Catskill. The sandstone to the Chemung.
Later I see that the Hamilton is not as
thick as I supposed, for the brin fur mesostrialis
fauna is here that it told also true of
Hamilton age. The great thickness of the Upper
Dermian means mountain making in Appalachia
at this time. This then agrees with the phenomena
in the Saftic region.
