Aug. 31. Collected in the Medina and Mijara limestone at Thord, which is 18 miles north of Port Colborne. Saw name of [illegible] Lingle accumulates which the shell are all commingled. The only other fossils seen in this formation are one large slab with lamellibranchs. The fossils in the Mijara limestone are not weathered out so they are total. are some Stromatoceras and Helidites. A layer ranging from 2 to 8 ft thick of a cement rock under the Mijara shale, and this is quarried and mined out for a cement and sold in the Buffalo market for $1.05 per ft. One of this drifts is now being used for a cast-iron farm.
