At 6.30 we arrive at Oaxaca and are received by a deputation of citizens. After the playing of the Band an reception of the mayor we start away from the station in omile drawn shot cars for the hotel. Had a shave at the dinner met Reilbach, Rieman and Dohanel. Then to the Plaza to hear the serenade in one tone. While there we are on the decoration of the Governor's dinner for an reception to dinner morning. This is the last day in Oaxaca Ordneiz. He returns to join the Juilico excursion! Oaxaca Aug 22nd Wednesday. Set at 6 with a bright day. Had break- fast with Tietze. Then walked around the city for an hour and half, and saw the natives drugging about securing the provender for the day. The native Americans are small, usually dark, and jet black hair and when young fine white teeth. They are very new mature, having few wants and earn but little. Understand ordinary labor can be had at what 35 cents Mexican per day.
