Washington Aug. 12 Sunday. Got up at seven after a warm nights sleep. Saw Bashin at the museum at 8.45 and then to Cumberland on the 11 Am train. Arrived at Cumberland at 2.05 with Gordon of the train. Cumberland Aug. 13 Monday. Spent part of the morning with Bartley in carry his latest Crislay finds. Had a great number of Edricinus sacculus large fine ones and small ones in clusters of three or more. Also many Spirifur tuberosus and one fine new Spirifer. This horizon is less clean in the lower Crislay as I. cumberlandiae was common. Much more material can be collected. The locality is near Pattersons Creek on the Western Maryland cutting. In the afternoon saw a Baseball game. Returned to Washington at 6.40 and arrived at 10.50. At St. James Hotel.
