It rained last night on Mt Washington
and its off white today.
Sep. 17. Friday. Crawford Notch.
Mt Washington is covered with snow.
It has rained all the night and rained hard, then
I went tired at 9.30 the sky once a little with stars. The
morning it is cold, windy and quite heavy showers.
At 10.30 in a light rain started out for Mount
(elevation 2786')
Wild and to look down the face lying south of Crawford
Notch and far beyond to Mt Chocorua.
At first the rain had cleared up and I walked
with thin mists towards Base. Had several fine views
by highest of the Presidential Range are now around great parts
of the Cannon mountain Valley and the three large Notches.
But say that is a fine excursion with most of the clouds
gone. It promises clearer for tomorrow. If all goes well
I will attempt the Crawford path 8½ miles to the top
of Mt Washington.
The night is clear cold and starry, the wind by

and a long view of the mountain.
Sep. 18. Saturday. Mt Clinton.
Looked out the window at 6 A.M. and found heavy snows
forming in the north about Mt Washington. Looked again
