March 7 - 98 Burlington Iowa. Had an early breakfast and left for Burlington at 6.40 A.M. on the C. B. & Q. R.R. Arrived in Burlington at 9 A.M. Then called on Dr. E. [illegible] quarry man living 613 South street and purchased a few fossils for $1.00. Said he would loan the lot out for other material an will write us. In the afternoon called on Prof. Fultz but he was out, Then called on Dr. [illegible] to see the Brackemuth and Sponge collection. It is the greatest collection of Crinoids ever brought together. The species are not very saturated by a few individuals but often there may be one hundred. Everything is carefully labeled and cleaned. The labels are all in the hand writing of Drackemuth and give the synonymy when there is a change in
