Mr. John Mr. Cate and looked over his Collection. Has several hundred crinoids, fish remains and shells. Purchased 68 crinoids, all the fish remains ~ 200 specimens, and all to mollusca 150 specimens for $ 100. (3000). He has several hundred crinoids left and will write him that I will give him $50. for the lot. Packe the selected after specimens. Mr. Mr. Cate own select further for us and will send the material or approval. He tells me that part of the shells are found immediately belwo the drift. The next 20 feet contain the fish spines and teeth although single specimens are found throughout the 7th foot of the Lindenhurst, Crinoid layer is from 12 to 16 feet below the shale layer. although some specimens go down to 40 feet beneath the drift horizon.
