sleaming, At 8.30 the fog thinned and we steamed full speed. An ice fog from jamed in the fog. No Cake ice was seen today. Temperature at 7 P.M.= 37°, at 8.30 = 39° Returned in a badly rolling and pitching ves- sel at 10.45 Prufighter, awakened by sound of pumps. August 17, 1897 From White's Journal Washed out white overlan shirt, two handskip one towel and bicycle socks. Washed once. Shirt fell on dirty floor after being hung up, and one sock went into eral scuttle. Temp. at 9 A.M. 37°, 480 at 1 P.M. and 40° at 5 P.M.
