Sep 12 Sunday Baffin Land. This day in a splendid one. The sun is out in full force and there is scarcely any wind. After my finger was dressed I spent about two hours on deck. Most all of the ship are ashore. Since we have arrived Mr Jansen has entertained every all of the passengers of the ship. His meals are better than those of the ship. I regret not being able to go ashore. However he did not forget me since he sent me some roasted duck. Before noon one of Jansens domestics announced that he saw with the aid of field glasses from the top of a high hill that boats coming. Later in the day others also saw the boats. We are greatly pleased to know that the Porter party is safe and that soon they will be with us. The Porter party arrived at the boat at about 5.30 P.M. All are well. They go to Jansen's house and have supper. Word is sent to them that they are my guests.
