Sep. 6-97 Monday. Godhaven. The storm continues to freshen and to day I am told the sea is running very high. We are very thankful that we are in a safe harbor. It continues to rain. The ships crew is at work fastening the masts to the hold. My finger is again dressed this morning. The pain of pressing it or great, that I tell Dr. [illegible] cannot stand it long. I am in bed most of the day too. Outside harbor the sea dashes up waves that rise against the cliffs to height of 100 feet. Barometer low. Sep. 7-97 Tuesday. Godhaven. My storm let down during the night. The crew cleaning up the deck. At eleven this morning we steam away for Baffin Land on a very high sea. Before going down Dr. [illegible] give my finger another dressing and two more cuts with the knife. To ease the latter he just gave me about six cocaine
