geological specimens. Later in the evening we have a long talk with Sv. Knutzon and pay him for our matters. I have paid him for three native for 10 days going to Qaqortuak and for four days return in their Kiaks to Ommersoll. For one of the men I paid for 28 days to Avarandlull and 6 days return to Ommersoll. The pay is 1/2 Kroner per day or +10 1/2 cents. At Qaqortuak three of the natives will leave us and there Sv. Knutzon has arranged for me to take on three other men to take me to Avarandlull. Sv. Peage will call us for at Avarand- lull or Sep. 5. In case he does not arrive by the sixth he wants us to send a Kiak to Rittenholl informing him of our position. A danish vessel the Thorvalden will leave that station or Jacobshavn by September the 10th. In case of such an accident to the ship Sv. Knutzon says we should leave five natives at Avarandlull with a letter for the ships in case she should arrive and proceed to Danlash where we will get natives to take us to Rittenholl. For the two Qaqortuak natives over the return to Avarands- lull and we are wise then return with a boat
