"mans and ships, are quite large and were it not
that Inspector A. Anderson's wife is in Denmark
and the Governor a bachelor one would have been
intertained royal. Lieut Pears, Mr Lee and I
called on the Inspector the former showing his
credentials. Matters were soon adjusted and to
me he said that no natives could be had in
Brechaven but that we could probably get them in
Ummenal. The necessary letters to present in
our joining the Inspector said he would bring to
the vessel. Later I noticed a whale boat flying
the flag of Denmark and manned by four natives
bearing towards the Hope. Lieut Pears was also
ashore and so he got out to the boat and
get them out of the inspector. The latter
delivered the necessary papers and the formality's
were nearly over. Upon the ships weighing anchor
six guns were fired while the ship dipped the
British flag.
Ashore all were active and on the run...
