July 25 Sunday At Sea. The ship pitched badly last night that I was sick this morning. Did not rise until 3 P.M. when we were opposite Red Island off the Newfoundland coast and remained in dead calm for half an hour and then returned for the night. During the three weeks cloudy, Later I learn that more than half of the passengers are sick and refuse to eat. White noise over discomfort. Little progress is being made due to the wind which is head on. July 26 Monday Off N. Newfoundland. Being wet all day yesterday and the stomach empty had a miserable night. Heard the roaring of the water and the splashing of the waves against the head of the ship all night. At 6:30 A.M. could stand it no longer arose and went to deck. At 8 were able to eat a little breakfast. The day starts in fair. We are now off the Newfoundland coast. At 7 A.M. opposite Bonne Bay. The land is
