"wild gap. Here are good exposures
of the Hartenstein, Massanutten and
Romney. The road then remains
in the latter to Augusta Springs.
Sep 8 Augusta Springs.
This is the place called in the Hantestm file?
Pond Gap. Started through the gap on the rope
road. One sees plenty of Ouslanry erractics
and ore are along the road along the western
side. About 1/2 way up to the right are the
abandoned iron mines of Esteline.. Have some
scrapers. Neither here or anywhere along the road
did I see evidence of field. Certainly if there
is limestone in here and 200 a mine put thick
one should find erractics of it, but there is
nothing but Ouslanry and Massanutten sand-
stone. Above the Esteline ore mines there is
the Romney shale along the road for some
distance. Have a fine forest. Oatm
