Oct. 1. Vestibular glands - I had looked at K's slides the night before & so asked about v.g. G.H.: V.g are present in most ascophorans - not present in anascons. V.g are char. at family level; they are commonly infected by bacteria V.g can be seen in whole mounts & up to oil immersion in light microscopy - you might need 200 slides to determine orientation of v.g. Question about "replenishment" of seasonal bux. Acc. to G.H., larvae may develop from zooicol or zooicol may start to bud again. larvae go deeper in water in Fall & Winter eg, Bugula from Nov.- Feb. is v. low in glycogen & ! larvae cannot develop. In Feb. glycogen builds up & larvae begins to develop. larvae could go down to 30m. It is the upper level which is restrictive in occurrence of species
