Station #1W Lithology above Splenus 2018 1. Splenodiscus horizon. (See other notes on this station) Not exactly in correspondence with Station #2. Here, sand above 1st cone layer has no fossils in it itself, but contains sandy foliated concretions as its lower part with large oysters + splenodiscus. Upper cone layer is [illegible] but has few fossils (Paleozoic) 2. Above this the section corresponds to that of Station #2. No fossil horizons above it.

Cone layers in thin bedded sand are partly red brown. -- a few pelecypods -oysters + duscosuccus -like shells Spheros etc. lesions o o o o Sphenococcus seems limited to first cone layer + small cone within a few feet above + below. However the association of fossils with it has a much wider range, extending down to + possibly including John's layer (West)

Pierre at Station # 3W Upper Pierre much hardier, one layer more numerous fossils inside itself but within zones. Uppermost zone with small shells etc may be film's layer of Fox hulls. Fox hulls comes in with first typical platy hard core layer. below this about 2ft of yellowish clayey hard, transition zone.

29 3/10 To SS. clay 1' to 2' thin. (13ft below this thin 2" clay SS.) This SS layer is thinly bedded with some shale but predominantly a thinly bedded shaley song.

Conc. few, zone not clearly delimited) (17ft of zone of Big Baculites. 2 spec taken 16ft strata part, zone consist of layers of sandy shale + sandstone, latter bearing some concretions. Big baculites found both in conc. + shales. 55 4/10' to persistent conc. layer (55) (40' 5/10' to conc. layer soft up shale change to sandy sand of buff grey. This conc layer makes run of hard lay cut to north. (16ft to next conc layer.)
