Tracing Fox Hills west

Tracing Fox Hills west along strike. 1) Sphenodiscus luper. just S. of Canyon (#2) [illegible] swath, [illegible] layer forms grassy slopes, these gradually reaching valley floor, just east of first oil well sand appears in small bluff at foot of low grassy scarp made by thinly bedded sands. Sphenodiscus zone can be traced by outcropping of weathered concretions near base of grassy slope--up to this point. Concretions getting sandier + greyer fossils - Oysters 2 types clams Small 1/ shell small bivalve These rocks might possibly be breccia

a lower level but it is doubtful. Small bluff, about 15-20 ft. shot full of shells of 2 clams from top to bottom but nothing more found concretion of varying sizes & sand platy type as well as red brown type have fossils. Said (missing) also bears the shells. S. Zone must be about 20 ft thick at least. Sphenoceras found in wash on outcrop across gulley to east. Some small shells found in lower cave, at this outcrop^

Bluff just NE of first oil well capped by fairly persistent red brown layer, above this is flat sand. To the west sand is capped by more persistent bed or concretions, sandy greenish & greyish brown dolomine + intermingles with red brown, spherulites above in concretions of grey sand within 15 ft of top of sand. Local farm finds some scaphopods (2) or occasional small shells.

Opposite first oil well hole begin to turn a bit greenish in places, concretions at top of sand are more greenish. Thinly bedded sand above has more cone, layers of thinly bedded red brown layers. Lithology at Station 2

Lithology at Station 2 1 Sand below basal cone, layer or face of scarp is somewhat greyer buff than the close, ? is slat thin with vein-like streaks. This sand includes irregularly scattered concretions with some bearing fossils. This zone is related to Johns' zone paleontologically? 2 The concretionsary layer above this, at the base of the massive sand forming the scarp, is not persistent as a definite layer, but is made up of massive concretions, 3 to 6 feet in diameter. The 32 ft up to its concretionary layer is barren, it include many small nodules of limonitic concretions and many sand concretions from 1" to 10" across; The latter has seem to have no lithological difference from the sand except that they are more solidly indurated and are a bit grey in color. The sand is a light greyish buff, unindurated but fairly resistant to erosion. It is a medium grained sand. 4) The concretionary layer makes
