Some sledges are going across the bay (81 Tomorrow breakfast and we can see their frozen trails. However, good horses to go just any with me making 3 sledges in all 11 May - Friday - Somewhat overcast but the wind is still N.W. at noon. Blue ice during night and was calm at 8 a.m. Temp. 8a - 15°, 12m - 12°, 4p. - 14°, 8p. - 15° C Barometer has been rising slowly for 24 hrs. Men returning this morning say that the ice is becoming good for travel. I am feeling much better - had a good nights sleep and guess that I am all right again - Testimony to the efficacy of castor-oil & aspirin. Evening Jones thinks it not wise to start until we have had a day or two of sun to settle the snow on the south side of S. was Sandmark. Now probably much deep of soft snow there now and practically im-pos- sible - New difficulties seem to come to mind continually, but Jones is said to be the best man in the region and reliable. We are obliged to depend on his sincerity - He says that he will take me through if it seems prac- ticable -
