E Tookas'ooq & Koloondema were so
far ahead of us this morning that
they did not go over to Peters camp
to meet him - -
Rather less than an hour's drive brought
us to Cape Holm & we were going along
at a good gait when K. saw fresh
tear tracks that he looked sharply up the
hill & saw the animal. Soon we all
saw him crossing a snow patch 300
feet or more up the mountain. He was
400 yds or more away but I anxiously
took a shot at him - no effect, then
the men loosed some dogs from their
tams and began a wild rush up
the mountain (carrying a howling
trees of dogs behind). Within an hour
I heard a great shout above going
our into ice when I could look well
up I saw two men on the edge of the
snow bench 500-600 above the van.
They called out "Nanmoo shatigo" -
it was a joyful call. They slid like cats
down a snow slope leading to the sea
& they then came with the dogs were seen
at the Kohinwolets after two unsuccessful
the bird went into which the latter
had gotten in the excitement.
