Carl Fleicher is 92 yrs old and is some (103) what broken mentally. He seems well, but is not always continuous in his mental process. He speaks a little English, but communication is different. He buy a small boat that Whynifer used in 1869 (?) and still uses it. Anne just I think my is new - Jens Fleicher was with Whynifer. about 9 o'clock I turned in on the floor in Fleicher's office room + parlor and slept until till 6 p.m. My "bed" was quickly made, a canvas skin being laid on floor, on this a down bed with a sheet in it and another down bag for a cover - They have been very short of dog food here this winter and have killed or let die most of their dogs - Now there is plenty of dried shark meat, wh. makes good food the drying removing the intoxicating properties of the fresh meat - Jens Fleicher says that the intoxication is due to Salt. At 10-30h. temp is -10° R = 9.5°F, remark- able low for May. I thought that temp on Plateau last night was below 0° F. 24th May. Thursday. Weather still fine. Smo thin clouds - Rather warm but what wind there is is from the north. Slept another good eight hours last night + therefore have made up for lost time. Flag up on my account.
