Deer Cr. Area - Resume
Clay beds - Main bed 14 at mineable thickness
only in 3 small areas marked in red along
green line. At AIN-48-93, #13'/5' and at just
N. Deer Cr. road.
Small beds - none of economic note.
Dakota clay - North of Deer Cr. best
exposure is just N. Deer Cr. Road, remainder
of outcrop N. to Massey draw is approx.
with no info on clay - other than that
it can't be very thick or it would show.
south of Deer Creek indication that
bed may warrant prospecting. SS on top
things throwing it way down slope very
near Gueros contact - thus accessible.
At AIN-48-95 #4 bed exposed & consists
of shale & platy siltstones in lower part.
This outcrop may be worth trenching.
Stratig. - Disconformity Deer Cr. section
reexamined but little new info. - possibility
discort. is on top massive calcic ss or
is in it. At section AIN-48-93 #18 the
3rd SS is double (as at Plainview) &
4th shale is present & a basal SS
is present. Further S. AIN-48-95 #3
similar section with 2 foot basal SS.
:. Great thickening of 3rd ss between
Deer Creek section and hogback just S
of creek. This thickening can be seen
taking place on N. wall of Deer Creek gap.
Question of whether a Dakota-like
lense comes in locally under the
disconformity (as at Cazen) is worth
investigating.
