[Dip of beds: N21W, 21°SE] 4 McD's to base of brown sandstone - thin (2 McDs + 2.5 from bottom is soft ss ledge, finesc irreg bedded czrk motthng light gray Fe stein, only .9 exposed) bedded to platy. total 47' Measuring 24214 4.1 - Brown weath thin bedded to platy ss 10.1 - Slope with clay wash & platy brown ss float. Includes the "extra" bentonite" 1.5 - ledge platy bru ss. 15,1 - Slope wash covering 2nd Gleaching clay + silty beds at base. (17) S. side Deer Creek. At this point Dakota clay goes under cover. It has fairly broad outcrop zone but no good exposures between here & Deer Cr. Some ss in it but how much not known. Worth some exploration. Clays upslope irregular, broken up by lense of lb. ss & silty clay, thin-bedded cross-bedded which can be seen to lense in & out from N side of drew (see old photo [5]).
