Plat Ho, in old clay pit base Graneros & tunnel into Dakota clay N 20° W, 70 Black fissile shale (Graneros A 2.1 Platy siltstone in beds ⅛" to 3" thick with partings & interbeds silty shale & shely siltst. x-low B 1.1 Sandstone massive, fine to coarse with chert-qty-clstu-ss pebbles and layers cqt. chiefly on upper surface. Weather y-brn. C 2.0 Interbedded fine grained sandstone & mottled brown & black papery shale ss layers ½ to 2" thick. Some silty layers in shales D 0.7 Sandstone, massive bed x-low, fine qr. Weather's brn & y-brn. E 2.6 Shale silty shale with interbeds lminze of siltstone, shale grey weather brownish full of fine plant frags. Local liquid zone 0.9 from top. F 4.6 Sandstone, massive, to evenbedded- laminated in lower ½, mostly fine qr, some medium in upper ½. G 1.7 Lignite, shaly in upper part(15?) remainder coally. [Sample 1.] Locally thin bentonite like layer .5 from top where coaly begins. Base of part liq bed is locally liq silt. H 3.6 Sandstone, fine grained massive grailly & silty in lower part I 0.3 Bentonite-like clay [Sample 2] J 3.2 Sandstone, massive fine-qr, as in H above, ferrug, clays & mottling 55
