Palo Alto, Thursday Feb 17.
Visited the Leland Stanford Junior Museum. A little of everything and as much of anything other than things immortalizing the Stanfords. The best are the paintings, several my large ones of costume American mountain landscapes - Yosemite, Kern River and Shasta. These are wonderful pieces of realistic art.
Also looked on the Arnold Collection of Cenotic mollusks of California. Often join collection and not at all what one could have been gotten by a land collector.
Spent the afternoon with Prof. Smith. Had dinner in the evening at Mr. Robert Anderson's house. He used to work in Brazil with Arnold. Has traveled all over the world from Mt. Co. Is now doing private research work at the University. His father was Professor of English at Leland Stanford University, but is now retired.
Rained mostly during day and nights.
