Pal Alto, Wednesday, Feb 16. Studied all morning my notes for the lecture at 2 P.M. Then went home and on Jefferson way. It seemed to take very well. Then visited Prof. Blackwells office and he showed me some fine samples. I saw boren sand and flustiny granite rocks, green on which the garnet where left or pebble, another sample had the harder we standy out. He showed me a picture of granite faulted over pleiocne strata and are planed across to a general level. So pathory data done far back the present topography can be traced. It for some first back of the Andirece. Had dinner at Prof. Smith's home and met his wife and two sons. His daughter is in Europe. Then attended a lecture on the Milliken rays by the physicist Professor Brown.
