Houston, Jun 9, 1924 Wednesday.
Called on Mr Pratt in the morning and soon he explained to me the Goose Creek oil field - a sinking field now fairly submerged by the Gulf waters. A few years ago a part of this area stood about 1 1/2 feet above the sea and is now sunk 1 1/2 feet beneath the sea.
There are faults in two places on either side.
The land now sunk belongs to the State of Texas and since it is full of oil is very valuable if the sinking is due to the taking out of oil and gas the Humble Co has ownership. I think the sinking is due to the oil extracting, and because it could be shown on seostatic grounds.
Then called on Mrs Ellison and talked from until noon.
Oliver gave me a dinner party at the Houston Club with Pratt, Baker, Kinder Smith and Humble men.
Then called on Miss Appolin [married 3 months] and talked from the rest of the afternoon.
