125 On Route, Monday April 20, 1920 When I got up this morning we were part of La Junta, Colorado, and what a great change has taken place since last night. The land is range country with lots of cattle everywhere. Then one gets into Kansas the land is green and gets greener, farms become plentiful, and by 10 A.M. are in the land I smell and honey. It is all plain country, almost flat and without fruit. By noon small local forests appear. Don't see all day east through Kansas. We got to Kansas City at 10 P.M. Yesterday and today in the afternoon the temperature is warm. The natives are around in shirts without vests or coats. Damfully just as I ask fear when I got into the plains country, hot and sweaty. I am taking a little 1 quinine to prevent any taking cold. Went to bed after getting to Kansas City, Mo. This was at 10 P.M.
