POSITUR: Palms would not have grown in Arctic given present palm inclination even if mean ann temp & min temp allowed them. CANNOT shed leaf, indeed they are herbs whose trunk is really leaf bases. :. Absence of palms (thus far) in record is not per se evidence that climate was not virtually frost free.
