" Nov. 16. Friday Finished excavating and succeeded to get the bottom of the box under the specimens without mis[illegible]. In the afternoon packed it on the spot and left it there since four men were unable to put on a wagon. Rain at 4 o'clock P.M. for several hours. " Nov. 17 Saturday. County is quite muddy and damp and cold. Began work on specimen no 3. This specimen has a length of about so feet, but nearly all in so much weathered as to be of no value.
