Mar. 19 - '96 Thursday Presidian Miss. F[?]Mile. Called in Mr. L C Johnson in the Herald paper office. He says the skeleton collected near Bashutal Miss had a good skull. The nose was smashed broken but the pieces were all there. The skeleton was collected at state expense. Drs. Jonas the state geologist and editor of the Examiner at Aberdeen Missy who in Washington possibly in the interior office may know all about it since he gave the skeleton to the Starkville college. Two Mastodon skeletons were dug up by ? Mr. David Smiths near Rileburg. It may pay to look into that matter. Left at 4.30 P. M. in. [illegible] away then at 10.
