Oct. 16 (Tues). New Jersey Gathering plants collected with J.A. Drusdal at New Brunswick: Plantago arena ria, White form of Polygonum pennsylvanicum var. femininum, Chenopodium Boocianum, Bidens involucrate; Helmetta in a fine barren swamp, quite an extension northward of the typical fine barren plant; Juncus caesariensis, Senecia squar- rosa, als Aster radula, Thelypteris simulata and Solidago neglecta: at Sines place: Gentiana Papuaria Helianthus integrus, Solidago stricta. Oct. 17 (Wed.) Collected Aster in Local Farm Section for Mass. State College. Preliminary identification, etc. Polygonum robustum from Hadlenswck R. Oct. 18 (Thurs). Left for Boston at 10:20 a.m., arriving at 7:30, by way of Danbury and Stafford Springs. Oct. 19 (Friday) Worked at Gray Herbarium. Much of the material col- llected by [illegible] in Joseph as Woodbine regions appears identified with Ruppi's material. Lee's plate of W. medicana is commercially good. He emphasizes the 4-parted induction of W. medicana. The Viburnum sit. section has cleared up to a large extent: V. cascin- cides (see Gray, Synopt. H.) was based on a Palm specimen. Oct. 20. (Saturday). The Helianthemum group still presents much difficulty; it is a question whether Amaranthium brachystylum and Zygadenus leincanthoides are even geographic varieties since their distribution is apparently overlapping
