Aug. 8 (Thursday).
To Greethly by way of Altamont. Stopped at Collins R. where [illegible] I collected Carex torta in 1936. In stream a Sagittaria Sagitaria and also a Xyris (not bulbous at base) apparently same as I saw on brook going to Stone Door.
A fair amount of water in small pond (S. of Altamont), with plenty of En Tennyana now showing. Around the margins L. tuberculosa, Xyris, Carex planiculosa in abundance, Lobelia Nuttallii and Panicum aff. longifolium in two forms (both collected) are more growing and sprawling than the other.

Aug. 10 to Russelsboro with Da. Nothing of interest on way except noted Quercus Globos (a single tree) in barren about 1/42 miles W. of New Millsville. Bidens involucrata (?) abundant on ridge from Collins R. near Drum Creek. Magnolia tripetala collected just below Fultons or Collins R.
Aug. 12 (Friday)
To Stone Door. Stopped along sweet bark on way, following it upward to south). Lachenaria Lemphrea is in better clusters (several hundred plants seen), H. Cristata (about fifty flowering plants/ and H. Cilierea about equally common. H. Chavelleta (?) sparsely and Micranthella (3 or 4 plants). Lobelia Cardinalis, and Phlox with representatives. First masses of Panicum longifolium and some Xyris (not flexuosa). The Stone Door, Dr. high S.S. Ridge, not particularly notable for its plants: see Liatris intermedia, Physalis Curtisii, Deschampsia and a few others.
