If locus & ground were right H.B.K. would be tempted to query if this could be Woodwardia virginica Sm G 38 (see Clute 219) = Aneliastea — Presl BvBI 24. Stipe 5¼ in., smooth, purplish, valining at base. Blade 7½ in x 5in., very suggestive of Cinnamon Fern & very like ill (BvB) & W.v— also like ill Clute opp to 220 (not like ill 119). Frond glabrous except fr. Axis at base of stalk & pinnae beneath & slight ciliation on edges. Rachis with very narrow wings which grow still narrower toward base. Mid-vein of pinnule somewhat zig-zag—throw- ing off branches which for once run free to the margin.— is like ill BB in the outer portion but not writing"in a single series elongate areoles". [Admits Osmunda cinnamomea L G 47, BvBI 7] 7-15-38 Prob the same tho pinnae & pinnules much more widely separated. 6-24-38 Capsella Bursa-pastoris Medic G 426 = Bursa — Britton BvB # 158 FLu fs.
