"auricles narrow v Clawlike", "longer margins" & nerves separated into pairs by white lines" 6-18-38 Carex flava L.G 345; BUBI 430 Adv. frs N.S. edge of drive. Bergyria 5mm & wheels 2½ mm is beaks. Achene 1.5mm 6-18-38 Carya ovata (see 6-14-38) No flr frs. Lfts 5: a) From young tree beside one of the 2 old undoubted shag-barks with lvs. (as far as could be judged from the ground) exactly the same. b) From young tree just W southwest corner of lawn. &l with spce 9 6-14. Conclusion all are C.o - Refert all 3 a, b, c. Note: lvs from twigs along trunk do not show the well- lumm large 3 terminal Lfts. By great effort one can imagine a faint resinous odor from crushed lvs. Terminal buds now lie. buds which will unfold this summer) lanceolate v pointed 6-7 mm. long.
