as Gilva. might suggest. Lobes exceed the stamens
by 2-3 mm. In one case 5 fr. at a node; in all others
only 2 fr. at a node i.e. one in each axil. hvs. softly
pubescent but hairs not appressed (BvB) [10-25-38] F2
bright red unevenly on dark orange background.

St. glabrous from top down to uppermost long petioled
lf. (uppermost lvs associated with inflated sessile or
slant, about 1-2 cm, petioled) if uppermost long petioled
lf. is on the stem (as in one spec.) the section of st.
below that is hairy; if u-l-fo lf is basal (as in
several spec.) st. all glabrous. This suggests O. longisty-
los (which our plant may be) St 16 in high. (prob
some not collected were higher)
Lvs 5 petioles very hairy with white spreading hairs.
Style & stylodium 1-5 mm on young fr; a trifle shorter
(1? mm) on old fr. Old fr. (last yrs.) 12mm long.
Roots young fr aromatic but fr. less so than plant.
Mrs. Durga called Sweet Cicely at H.H i.e. has not the
definite anise odor. No exactly like ill(BvB) of W.C-
Involucre present, bracts ciliate. Involucres none but
umbel subtended by short petioled or sessile lf.
