Herbaceous, much longer in relation to woody part than in 4-24-39. 4-24-39 Calochortus splendens Dougl. J 239; M 93 F.L. Mecca Drive. Gland lacking [See 5-14-39 in light which perhaps this 4-24 appt. should be desc. as "gland flabino" rather than "gland lacking" 4-24-39 Adenostoma fasciculatum H.A.J 503; M 238 F.L. Mecca Drive (See 1-20-39) 4-24-39 Uropappus linearifolius Nutt. J 993 = Microseris linearifolia Schultz. M 587 FLv fr. Mecca Drive. (See 4-3-34). Heads 2cm high, v pappus as in (A.) [4-3-39. Pappus silvery (hardly tinged with brown) v decid- uous Achene very dark v white slender throug out def attenuate towards apex. [5-10-39 FLv fr. Poway Grove, dv its segments filiform - much narrower than all (M) 4-24-34 ? Phalaris canariensis L. J 136; M 35; G 121 F.L. Rather withered when studied. L.T. Crespo Drive region. Species queried only because infl less thick wate v less def white v green than remembered elsewhere. But no other species in M. i.e. spikelets single all alike, glumes broadly winged, sterile lemma 2 (almost half as long as fertile lemma which is 3.5-4 mm) Note also glumes not acuminate v lateral nerves not near margins to prob not # 40 = 5] [see P. minor 5-7-39
