(if not P. b. - then must be B. elongatoma F.M. var. gracilis Hell J 1113; M 561). Loose thickish & def. rounded offset at apex, often 3mm wide (sometimes 2 mm). Pappus of 2 (sometimes 3) awns. Achenes promises to be hairy. [Ilust. by Mr. G. as Laetienia glabrata Lindl var Coulteri Gray J 111; M 562. 3-20-39 Layia platyglossa Gray J 1100; M 559 Fl. near Baeria. Antherodale. Rays 3 lobed at apex. 3-20-39 Amsonkia intermedia F.M. M 422 (see A. Douglasiana DC. J 844) Fl. valv & Crown Point. (See 3-2-39, notes written before R.B.K. discovered what M. considers error in J.) Plants of all sizes to 2 ft tall with many branches, roots 2.5cm wide. General effect of these tall bushy plant quite dif from those of 3-2-39 but R.B.K. has no question as to same species. 3-20-39 Calandrina caulescens H & K var. Menziesii Gray J 845: C. ciliata DC. var M - Macbr M 156 Fl. fr. LTH. coast seeds brown & papillae evident (20), in this dif from apec. of 3-9 (seeds black, shining salmost smooth (20).) but general look of plant as well as pedicels, sepals & capsule
