General look of plants very diff in that E. m - has much larger coarser hs v structures having in large white or papery leaflets. Diff in sepals as desc. Claw & petals of E. m - has a few hairs; that of E. C - diff densely bearded edges. Diff in filaments not always as great as expected but the dilated base in E. C - is sometimes def tooled at top (some- times hardly toothed) [3-6-39 Spec with white petals at Mission Beach.] 3-2-39 Tillaea erecta HVA. T 449; M 215 Flv fr. with above. Plantred, the thread-like hs (as well as sepals) with darker red dots (20x) Petalos (alt with sepals) so narrow that R. B. K. thought they might be stamens until the thread-like filaments found opp. sepals. All carpels examined had 3 seeds. 3-2-39 Medicago hispida Gaertn. T 534; M 553, Flv fr. with above. Remains of old fr around it (one specimen) from which the turn- isled seed from which it grew. [Fr 4-89 Adv fr Pacific Beach] 3-6-39 Spergularia macrotheca Heynh. T 360; M 164 Flv & lv. fr. Mission Beach near Amusement Center. Petals white faintly tinged (not "pink" J v M). All green parts above
