5/16/39 several, to 3 indigle. 2t, lvs, invol. v calyx all def. pubescent wth spreading hairs. Invol. certainly cup shaped until after fr. falls off when cap is still not flat. Invol cut about halfway to base into 7-10 triangular lobes which with subulate tip. (Invol no otherwise for this.) Calyx 3mm, its lobes as long as tube. Calyx lobes broadly triangular with pungent subulate tips; margins below tips scarious v denticulate (20x). Withered corolla reaches to tips of calyx. Needs many fld; about 5mm diam. No other species in W seems possible. Lfts about 5mm long. Cf. with bit of plant (col accidently) thought to be T.amplectens v with T. xidentatum of 5/1 and of 5/6/39. 5/19/39 Convolvulus occidentalis Gray var. cyclostegius Teps. J7%; M 387 Fl. Pacific Beach vacant lot. Seen very commonly v several times collected & studied since 1-28-39. Facts vary but in light of No distribution R. B. K. has no doubt of ident. As observed corolla looks white but has pink on outside 5/19/39 Linaria canadensis Dum var. Hexana Pennell M 461. See L. c - Dum J 901; G 920. Flv fr. Pacific Beach. vacant lot. Note that capsule opens just below apex with 3 recurved teeth for each cell. (M, J and G all say chinks or pores for Linaria)
