Tompson Quinault April 28, 1934. the Duskabush, Rosewallips, and Skedoniel elk drift over into Quinault watershed in winter. The main wintering ground of the Quinault lies between Grays Creek & Enchanted Valley on the East Fork. Elk also winter all along the Humptulips and Nsynoochee rivers. But Olson says that the Quinault is the largest wintering grounds outside of the Hole. Everyone agrees that few elk live any length of time once they wander into the Quinault Indian Reservation. The bulls at this time of year are higher up in the mtns. April 29, 1934 In Forbes and to Sol Duc Hot Springs. April 30, 1934. From Sol Duc Hot Springs to Olympus Guard Station on upper Hoh. This trip lay over the High Divide. A trail leads up to the top of the Divide but none down the other side. Ranger Bill Dane reports that about 50-60 elk live in the Solduck watershed and that they usually winter a few miles below Sol Duc Hot Springs. He saw a few elk tracks as we went up the
