Thompson Delusion Lake 265 July 1, 1932 Boat from hotel to bay nearest east end of Delusion Lake. Hiked about 1 mile up dry stream to Delusion. The lake is very clean with sandy beach, & lodgepole forest all around (some fir spruce also). Fished all day without anyone catch a fish. Party consisted of Baggley, Medary, Footer, Joffee, Da Nene, Wright & Thompson. From 11:00 PM to 4:PM, I hiked up to the west end of the lake -- about 4 miles, no trail but elk. Many elk tracks seen, also tracks of deer & bear. Two male American Mergansers were at west end of lake. Two pairs of Trumpeter Swans were found feed in the cover on the southwest end. There were no nests nor young. The west end marsh is grassy, but no tules. Doesn't seem fitted for swan nesting. Beavers have been cutting young lodgepoles recently & for a number of years past in the west end region. An Osprey & a few Gulls were over the lake. At the sand spit on Yellowstone Lake just east of Delusion, we saw fresh Otter tracks. Day clear sunny (over)
