The land here on side-hills is terraced to keep it from washing. The weather was very cold with a cold wind blowing while under heavy overcoat necessary. Many barley fields seen along the track, a wide Challaw river occupied the valley floor. The crop called Campaguta was already [illegible] with red tops like cockatoo's. a few trees were seen for Quinilla sta. to about 10 m. lint. The presence of 13,000 ft.
