to trees & flowers, and has
roadways & staircase leading to
the rocky summit. From the top
a fine view of the city, the great
flor valley & the peaks of
the Andes may be obtained.
The surrounding farming country
is largely meadows with stock &
gain fields. One of the premier
Andean fruits is a large
rounded stone sort of the cit,
covered with man fields in
places. No forest is visible,
the sides of the mountains
appearing quite bare. In
the encyclopetes, cypress & pine
trees of the Cerro I saw very
few birds. The crested Sparrow
of the Cuzco region was here a
common bird in hedges. He looks
slightly darker than the Peruvian
but otherwise similar. A few
olive gold finches unseen, & a
white crested small flycatcher. The
birds were nesting in full song.
